Trump Evacuated as Gunshots Disrupt White House Correspondents’ Dinner

US President Donald Trump was hurriedly escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night after a gunman opened fire inside the ballroom.

Panic broke out as multiple shots rang through the venue, forcing attendees to dive under tables and seek cover. According to the president, one operative from the United States Secret Service was shot at close range but survived due to a bulletproof vest.

Guests remained inside the hall for nearly an hour before security officials declared the area safe.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, was apprehended at the scene. He was reportedly armed with multiple weapons and is expected to face charges in court on Monday. Allen is said to have been a hotel guest and a part-time teacher.

Trump later shared an image of the suspect on his Truth Social platform.

The incident comes months after a similar scare in July 2024, when Trump was rushed off stage during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania following gunfire. He sustained a minor ear injury in that attack.
