United States President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will respond after Iran allegedly shot down an American Apache helicopter during a patrol mission over the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Trump said he had been informed by the U.S. military that Iranian forces brought down one of the country’s “highly sophisticated Apache helicopters” the previous night.

According to the president, the aircraft was patrolling over the strategic waterway when it was attacked. He disclosed that the two pilots on board survived the incident and were not injured.

“I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz. There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack,” Trump said.

The incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran and comes amid ongoing instability in the Middle East. Trump did not provide details on the nature or timing of any potential U.S. response.

U.S. military officials confirmed that the helicopter crew was rescued and is in stable condition. Reports indicate that the aircraft went down near the coast of Oman, while the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for global oil shipments, and any escalation in the area is closely watched by international markets and governments.
