Teenager fatally shot in East Harlem NYCHA complex

In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, 19-year-old Ramon Alvarez was fatally shot at the Thomas Jefferson Houses in East Harlem, located at 205 East 112th St.

The shooting occurred around 3:36 a.m., within the confines of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) complex where Alvarez resided.

Upon receiving a 911 call, officers swiftly responded to the scene and discovered Alvarez conscious and alert, despite sustaining a gunshot wound to his torso. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) promptly transported Alvarez to Harlem Hospital for urgent medical treatment. However, tragically, his condition worsened throughout the day, and he succumbed to his injuries at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
