Bronx, New York, (Saturday, September 21, 2019)—-  Rumble in the Jungle! Mohammed Ali versus George Forman type fight is about to debut. This time it will not take place in Zaire but in the Big Apple, closer to Madison Square Garden.

While there is no shortage of republican candidates (5 and counting) challenging the 14th Congressional District progressives’ darling incumbent, Mrs. Badrun Khan of Queens is the first on the democratic side to formally declared her primary candidacy against Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for June 2020 democratic Primary.

Mrs. Khan, born and raised in New York City to Bangladeshi immigrant small business owners, is a wife and a proud mother of two beautiful daughters in school.

Parkchester Times spoke with Mrs. Khan at a length a few days ago and one of its reporters attended her first Bronx fundraising event held at a Bengali-owned Golden Palace Party Hall in Parkchester on Thursday, September 19, 2019.  They talked about a range of constituency issues including the Amazon failed deal, Charter Schools, Universal Health Care, The diversity of district 14th, her background as a community organizer and an immigrants’ advocate, among others.

Badrun Khan is certainly poised to mobilize the fast growing Bangladeshi voters and other constituents in the district, especially the more conservative democrats in the district. She may be a new political candidate but she is a seasoned community organizer with strong determination to do to the incumbent what AOC did to incumbent Crowley.  This is what one who visits her campaign website will find. “As a proud Democrat, advocate, community activist, mother and a proud daughter of an immigrant family, Badrun Khan has spent her entire life fighting for justice, equality and fairness in her community.”
