Police are on the hunt for three suspects involved in an unprovoked attack on a 47-year-old man in Midtown last week. The bizarre incident, which began with a water gun assault, escalated into a brutal beating.

The assault took place around 8:15 a.m. on Monday, May 20. The victim was walking in front of 373 Fifth Avenue when he was unexpectedly hit from behind with a gel water gun. Seeking to confront his assailants, the man approached the trio responsible for the initial attack. Instead of de-escalating, the suspects turned violent, repeatedly kicking and punching the victim.

After the attack, the suspects fled the scene, heading northbound on Fifth Avenue on bicycles.

Emergency Medical Services quickly responded to the scene, transporting the injured man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue. Fortunately, he sustained only minor injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.

The NYPD has launched an investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted to the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

This unprovoked attack has raised concerns among Midtown residents and workers about safety in the area, especially during peak hours. Authorities are increasing patrols and surveillance in hopes of preventing similar incidents and ensuring the suspects are swiftly apprehended.

The NYPD’s appeal for public assistance highlights the importance of community involvement in solving crimes and maintaining public safety.
