Star lawyer warns of potential 3rd defamation lawsuit against trump
Renowned attorney Roberta A. Kaplan, representing E. Jean Carroll, has hinted at the possibility of filing a third defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump. This revelation comes just days after Trump posted a staggering $91.6 million bond following his recent legal defeat against Carroll.
Kaplan emphasized the window of opportunity within the statute of limitations for defamation cases, typically spanning between one to three years. “As we said after the last jury verdict, we continue to monitor every statement that Donald Trump makes about our client,” Kaplan stated firmly.
The decision to potentially pursue further legal action stems from Trump’s recent onslaught of verbal assaults directed at Carroll. Trump’s remarks, which eerily echo his past defamatory statements, have intensified in recent days.
During a rally in Georgia, Trump lamented the financial burden of the bond and disparaged Carroll’s credibility, denouncing her allegations as false despite a jury’s previous ruling in her favor.
In a subsequent interview with CNBC, Trump resorted to mocking Carroll, referring to her as “Ms. Bergdorf Goodman,” alluding to the location where the alleged assault occurred. Trump derided the legal outcomes as “ridiculous” while maintaining his innocence. “I got charged. I was given a false accusation and had to post a $91 million bond on a false accusation,” Trump asserted.
Kaplan has adamantly voiced support for Carroll’s pursuit of justice, emphasizing the imperative to hold Trump accountable for his defamatory rhetoric. “This is clear-cut. Carroll must sue again. She should take every last penny he has until he stops defaming her,” Kaplan affirmed.
The escalating tensions between Carroll and Trump underscore the ongoing legal battle that has captured widespread attention, fueling speculation about the potential ramifications of a third defamation lawsuit.
