Councilman Cabrera calls on NYC Corrections to end triple shifts

New York City Councilman Fernando Cabrera, a candidate for Bronx Brough President, has called for an end the practice requiring New York City Correction officers to work triple shifts.

“The City administration must end this abusive policy, which not only endangers officers but inmates as well,” said Councilman Cabrera.

According to a press release sent to Parkchester Times on Tuesday, February 16, Cabrera expressed the pathetic condition of NYC Correction officers.

"New York City Correction officers are often forced to sleep in their car rather then risk driving home after completing a required marathon triple shift.

"This fact alone should be of great concern to all New Yorkers. The city should immediately hire the sufficient number of officers required to end this policy," the press release reads.
