Bronx, NY – Former Deputy Bronx Borough President Aurelia Greene has, on Wednesay 17 February, announced her endorsement of Council Member Vanessa L. Gibson for Bronx Borough President.

“As my former intern in the New York State Assembly while a college student, I have witnessed firsthand the commitment, energy, passion and strong work ethic that Vanessa brings to our community. I have watched her work closely with constituents and community partners while in the State Assembly and City Council. I am proud of her journey in public service and know that she is well prepared to serve as our next Borough President. I couldn’t have asked for better representation to succeed me in the State Assembly and carry on my work," Greene said.

She  further noted that Gibson is of great character worthy of emulation.

"She is hardworking, humble and has the unique skills to build coalitions in the Bronx as we recover from the devastating impacts of COVID-19.  I consider her a daughter, my mentee and an exceptional role model for our next generation of leaders. I am honored and proud to endorse Vanessa L. Gibson to be our next Borough President,” said Aurelia Greene, former Deputy Bronx Borough President," Greene noted.

In her reaction to Greene's endorsement, Council Member Gibson also appreciated the ex-Deputy Borough President and commended her for her relentless years of genuine selfless services for the Bronx communities.

“Aurelia Greene has dedicated her life to the Bronx and serving our communities. I was so proud to start my career working for her in the Assembly, where she guided and taught me how to interact with constituents and work hard to ensure that government works on behalf of the people we serve.  I would not be the public servant I am today without her guidance and support. I am so thankful for her endorsement of our campaign and look forward to continuing all of the amazing work that she has done. I am so blessed to stand on her shoulders,” said Council Member Gibson, candidate for Bronx Borough President.

In her campaign for Borough President, Gibson is focused on recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing new jobs and opportunities to the borough, and ending the distinction of being the least healthy County in New York State.

Gibson was first elected to the State Assembly in 2009 and City Council in 2013, where she currently serves. While in office she has made affordable housing, criminal justice reform and education her priorities. More information can be found on her website: www.gibsonbp2021.com
