AOC partners QUIP, BAPP, to sensitize New Yorkers to census, voter registration
The U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has partnered Queens United Independent Progressives and Bangladeshi Americans for Political Progress to spread the word about the census and assist with voter registration.
This was disclosed on Sunday August 2, 2020, by AOC at Thomas Noonan Playground in Sunnyside.
According to AOC, the teams launched over 20 volunteers and left literature at the doors of 845 constituents "in an effort to make sure everyone is counted and ready to vote in November."
"The Census counts every single person living in the U.S. regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
"The census will shape how federal tax dollars are distributed in the United States over the next 10 years, for schools, roads, parks, healthcare, and more," AOC said.
She added that it would determine the number of seats each state is represented by in Congress.
"And right now, NY-14 is at risk of losing ours. So don't delay!" she added.
Ocasio-Cortez thereby urged New Yorkers to fill out the census at https://my2020census.gov/ to complete it online
