Teen slashed in violent subway altercation, suspect flees
A 15-year-old male was brutally attacked while riding a southbound No. 2 train near the Jackson Avenue station in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx.
The violent encounter has left the community on edge, as authorities work diligently to apprehend the suspect responsible for this alarming act of violence.
The incident unfolded when the young victim became embroiled in a verbal altercation with an unidentified man. The confrontation quickly escalated as the suspect, described as being in his 20s and standing approximately 6’3″, launched a physical attack by kicking the teenager, who was attempting to defend himself. The situation took a dire turn when the aggressor exited the train car, only to return moments later wielding a knife.
In a terrifying sequence of events, the suspect slashed the victim on the back left side of his head, causing injuries that necessitated immediate medical attention.
The aftermath of the attack left fellow commuters in shock as the suspect made a hasty retreat, disembarking at Prospect Avenue before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses describe the assailant as last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and distinctive red and white Nike sneakers.
