Let’s Stop Package Theft Together, Says Parkchester Resident as Community Urged to Stay Alert

A concerned resident of Parkchester South has sounded the alarm over increasing incidents of package theft within the community and is calling on neighbors to unite and take proactive steps to protect one another.

The message, “Protect your deliveries and help keep our complex safe with these simple tips,” comes from volunteer Kadesha D. Washington, who submitted a detailed guide urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperative.

To combat theft, residents are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling deliveries for times they’ll be home or having items sent to a trusted workplace, friend, or family member.

Secure delivery options such as Amazon Hub Lockers, UPS Access Points, and FedEx OnSite are also recommended.

Kadesha also emphasized the importance of neighbor cooperation: “Coordinate with a trusted neighbor to pick up each other’s packages… create a floor-wide or building-wide delivery watch… bring your neighbors’ packages up from the lobby.”

She urged residents to stay aware by using doorbell cameras, downloading security footage before it auto-deletes, and reporting suspicious activity: “Report suspicious behavior or thefts to Parkchester Police and NYPD… keep records and video of incidents… press charges if the thief is caught… only buzz in people you know or deliveries you are expecting.”

The message ends with a heartfelt reminder of the power of community:
