The New York City Council has approved a plan to transform the Bronx Metro-North Station Area into a thriving hub of housing, jobs, and public space.

The plan, which has been in the works for six years, will bring approximately 7,000 new homes, including 1,700 permanently affordable units, and create 10,000 permanent jobs in the area. The initiative is part of the city’s broader effort to address the housing crisis and create more affordable housing options.

The plan will also deliver improved public spaces, enhanced transit access, and millions of dollars in investments in local infrastructure.

The four new Metro-North stations coming to Parkchester/Van Nest, Morris Park, Hunts Point, and Co-op City in 2027 will be accompanied by strengthened commercial corridors, supporting the growth of prominent local institutions and job centers.

The approval follows a lengthy public review process, with input from local elected officials, community stakeholders, and state and federal government agencies.

The Adams administration has made record investments in affordable housing, with a commitment to creating and preserving affordable housing options for New Yorkers.
