A knife-wielding assailant who was menacing a hotdog vendor in Midtown was shot by a bystander who courageously intervened in the escalating confrontation.

The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. at the bustling intersection of 33rd Street and Broadway.

The 39-year-old suspect began harassing the street vendor, escalating the situation by brandishing a knife. Witnesses reported that the man menacingly scraped the blade on the ground before threatening a group of four men nearby.
