Scholarships offered for local students’ Lifeguard Certification
Westchester County Parks, in collaboration with the Westchester Parks Foundation, has announced the availability of 10 scholarships tailored for local students seeking to enroll in Lifeguard Certification courses. These scholarships aim to support aspiring lifeguards who aspire to serve within the Westchester County Parks lifeguard team during the upcoming summer season.
George Latimer, Westchester County Executive, emphasized the significance of lifeguarding as an avenue for local youth to cultivate responsibility, which serves as a vital foundation for their future endeavors. Latimer underscored the importance of ensuring equal access to opportunities for all individuals aspiring to join the Westchester County Parks lifeguarding team.
Kathy O’Connor, Westchester County Parks Commissioner, expressed enthusiasm about the pivotal role lifeguards play in facilitating safe and enjoyable summers within the county’s recreational spaces. O’Connor reiterated the department’s commitment to fostering the ambitions of young individuals by offering assistance in pursuing their lifeguarding aspirations.
Joe Stout, Executive Director of the Westchester Parks Foundation, emphasized the organization’s belief in equitable access to park resources and opportunities.
