In a heartfelt tribute to the guardians of the five boroughs, New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, has saluted the unwavering commitment of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) on National Public Safety Honor Day.

The Mayor, stating that the city thrives on the dedication of its public servants, expressed profound gratitude to the indispensable first responders who tirelessly protect the diverse population of 8 million.

National Safety Honor Day not only serves as a commemoration of the selfless efforts of the FDNY but also stands as a testament to the vital role public safety plays in fostering prosperity and maintaining the quality of life.

The mayor emphasized the need to honor the valor and sacrifices of EMS personnel, firefighters, and other first responders, underlining the pivotal role they play in the city’s governance.

The tribute extended to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, during the tragic attacks on the nation.

Adams highlighted this day as an opportunity for all New Yorkers to come together and reaffirm their commitment to supporting the essential workers of the FDNY and their families.

The mayor underscored the spirit of service and selflessness embodied by the courageous individuals who have laid down their lives to protect others.

“These heroes, representing diverse cultures and backgrounds, contribute to the city’s indomitable spirit of altruism,” Adams noted.

The entire FDNY family was commended for their dedication to shielding New Yorkers from harm, with a recognition of the tremendous impact they have brought to millions throughout the city.

In a call to action, the mayor urged continued collaboration to forge a more peaceful and safer future for all residents.

Each Public Safety Honor Day is to be marked with a renewed commitment to the well-being of the city and its inhabitants, ensuring that the heroic efforts of the FDNY are acknowledged and celebrated for years to come.

Also speaking about the event, Sheikh Musa Drammeh, a co-founder of the New York Peacebuilding Commission, expressed enthusiasm, saying, “We are fully prepared for tomorrow. Are you? We urge you not to miss our Appreciation Walk, dedicated this year to the 9/11 First Responders who continue to face health challenges. Join us at Virginia Park in Parkchester at 12:00 PM, as we walk towards the 43rd Precinct.”

Drammeh clarified that the event, scheduled for Tuesday December 5, 2023, is tagged the Appreciation Walk, aiming to honor and support 9/11 First Responders dealing with persistent health issues.

He cordially invites New Yorkers to gather at Virginia Park at 12:00 PM to commence the walk toward the 43rd Precinct.
