President Barrow hosts special envoy from Saudi Arabia, strengthens bilateral ties
The Gambian President, Adama Barrow, has welcomed a distinguished guest, the special envoy of Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques and King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Ahmad Al Khateeb, to the State House in Banjul.
During the meeting on Tuesday October 9, 2023, President Barrow expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the robust and enduring relationship that exists between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He assured the Special Envoy of The Gambia’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia’s candidature to host Expo 2030 and the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
President Barrow conveyed his warm regards to King Salman and conveyed gratitude on behalf of The Gambia for the Kingdom’s significant cooperation in various sectors, including but not limited to OIC projects and education.
He reaffirmed The Gambia’s commitment to fostering a continued partnership aimed at bolstering the socioeconomic development of both nations.
In response, Ahmad Al Khateeb delivered a special message from King Salman, emphasizing the importance of the bilateral relationship.
He engaged in discussions with President Barrow regarding prospective areas of cooperation, with particular emphasis on tourism and social development, wherein Saudi Arabia could extend its support.
The conversation encompassed The Gambia’s participation in the forthcoming Africa Summit, which is set to be hosted by Saudi Arabia. His Excellency Khateeb expressed deep appreciation for The Gambia’s support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the next FIFA World Cup and, in turn, sought The Gambia’s backing for Saudi Arabia’s aspiration to host Expo 2030.
