He further emphasized, “In any case, the presidential administration can hardly give out health certificates, so we have nothing to tell you here.” This statement came in response to unverified reports circulating on social media, suggesting that Kadyrov was in a coma.
As these speculations gained momentum, two videos surfaced on Sunday, purportedly featuring Kadyrov at an undisclosed location. In the first video, he was seen smiling while taking a leisurely stroll, and in the second, he encouraged people to engage in physical activity, speaking in both Chechen and Russian languages.
The video’s captions conveyed a message from Kadyrov: “I strongly recommend that everyone who cannot distinguish the truth from lies on the internet go for a walk, get some fresh air, and put their thoughts in order. The rain can be wonderfully invigorating.” However, the exact timing of these videos remains uncertain.
The conjecture regarding Kadyrov’s health was initially fueled by a report from Ukrainian news outlet Obozrevatel on Friday. The report cited a spokesperson from the security service, claiming that Kadyrov was in “serious condition” and that his preexisting health issues had deteriorated. Furthermore, Obozrevatel had previously reported an alleged unsuccessful kidney transplant involving Kadyrov.
It is important to note that despite these claims from the spokesperson, there is a lack of concrete evidence to substantiate the assertions. Nevertheless, these statements emerged after months of persistent rumors suggesting that Kadyrov was grappling with kidney-related problems.
Ramzan Kadyrov has been a staunch supporter of Moscow’s involvement in Ukraine, with his forces actively participating alongside regular Russian troops. Previously a rebel warlord, Kadyrov transitioned into a Kremlin ally and has often referred to himself as President Vladimir Putin’s “foot soldier.”
Kadyrov assumed the presidency of Chechnya in 2007, leading the predominantly Muslim region while facing allegations of orchestrating extrajudicial killings and the torture of his opponents.
