BP Gibson hosts annual Ramadan Iftar, Bronx Imams receive free trip tickets to Saudi Arabia
Bronx Borough President, Vanessa Gibson, has hosted her annual Ramadan Iftar with Muslim community members in the county.
This was disclosed in a statement by a New York community organizer Sheikh Musa Drammeh, on Friday April 14, 2023.
According to Drammeh, the event was held in Bronx, New York City on Thursday.
Gibson hosted the annual community Ramadan Iftar at the Borough Hall Rotunda with over 300 diverse attendees, according Drammeh.
“Awards were given to leaders representing a variety of professions and fields of endeavors within the fast growing Muslim Bronxites.
“Several organizations co-sponsored the event with ample food, beverage and giveaways,” he added.
Drammeh also stated that one of the sponsors announced five free round trip tickets to Saudi Arabia for imams in the Bronx.
The event was cohosted by David Ahmed Coulibaly, the first African immigrant to serve as Director of Community Services.
Several elected officials and NYPD officers were present. Bronx District Attorney Hon. Darcel Clarke was there.
In addition to recitations of the Holy Quran and and performance by young Muslim students from the Bronx Muslim Center, Muslim speakers also educated the gathering on the meaning of Ramadan.
