NYC Districting Commission simplifies submissions process for NYers
New York City’s Districting Commission has simplified the submissions process for New Yorkers to comment on the drawing of 51 new City Council maps.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday June 27, 2022.
“New Yorkers can then easily share their thoughts about their neighborhood characteristics and why they should be included in which of the new 51 City Council districts,” said Commissioner Chair Dennis Walcott.
He adds, “Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for New Yorkers to share their thoughts on the new 51 City Council districts we are drawing.”
The Commission is responsible for drawing new City Council maps based on the results of the 2020 Census.
It is soliciting public opinion at public hearings, via Zoom, by email, by web portal. QR Codes are the newest method the commission is utilizing to get public comments.
