NYC Council member Farias names street in honor of legendary filmmaker George A. Romero

New York City Council member Amanda Farias honored the legendary filmmaker George A. Romero, known as the Father of the Dead and the visionary behind the zombie movie genre, with a special street co-naming ceremony in Parkchester.

Farias took to her Facebook page to express her sentiments, stating, “Honoring the Father of the Dead and Father of the Zombie movie – George A. Romero, with a street co-naming ceremony today! His visionary storytelling brought the zombie genre to life and was started right here in Parkchester. It was a privilege to be joined by his family, local community members and devoted fans of horror. Together, we celebrated not just a legendary filmmaker, but also a trailblazer in the industry, especially during Hispanic Heritage Month this October. His legacy inspires us all!”
