Dramatic car chase, shootout across Queens, Brooklyn ends in arrest
In a high-octane incident on Saturday night, police engaged in a car chase and subsequent gunfight with a fleeing suspect, leading to his eventual arrest.
The sequence of events began shortly after 8 p.m. in Astoria, Queens, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of 36th Ave. and 34th St.
The driver refused to comply, igniting a frantic pursuit that stretched 2.5 miles into Brooklyn.
The chase culminated in a collision at 406 Kingsland Ave. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where the suspect crashed into another car. Abandoning the vehicle, the suspect took off on foot, prompting a dramatic foot chase.
During this pursuit, both the suspect and the officers exchanged gunfire. Miraculously, no injuries were reported from the gunshots or the crash.
The chase ended when the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody by the police.
