Man kills brother, injures mother in Queens
A married father of three fatally shot his own brother and injured their mother inside their Queens home on Saturday night before committing suicide.
Karamjit Multani, 33, entered his 27-year-old brother Vipanpal Multani’s room around 10:30 PM at their home on 95th Street and 11th Avenue in South Richmond Hill. He opened fire, striking Vipanpal in the torso before fleeing the scene.
A mile away, Karamjit was found with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head and a gun beside his body. Their 52-year-old mother was also injured during the incident, grazed by a bullet. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The motive behind Karamjit’s actions remains unclear. Family members, including his father, are baffled as Karamjit was financially stable and had shown no previous signs of aggression. The family was unaware that he owned a gun.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to understand what led to this devastating family tragedy.
