President Biden evokes normandy legacy to rally support for Ukraine against autocracy
America once stormed the beaches of Normandy to defeat fascism and end the Nazi reign of terror in Europe. Decades later, Europe found freedom, but President Joe Biden warns that freedom remains fragile and must be vigorously defended with democracy.
In a powerful statement, President Biden emphasized the importance of standing against autocratic aggression, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“The autocrats of the world are watching closely to see what happens in Ukraine to see if we let this illegal aggression go unchecked. We cannot let that happen to surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators,” he declared.

Biden underscored the historical significance of the Allied efforts in World War II, drawing a parallel to the current global political landscape.
“It’s simply unthinkable were we to do that. It means we’d be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches. Make no mistake, we will not bow down. We will not forget.”
