2 indicted for gruesome murder of Yonkers couple, remains scattered across Suffolk County
A Suffolk County grand jury has handed down murder indictments against two suspects, Jeffrey Mackey, 38, of Amityville, and Alexis Nieves, 33, in connection with the brutal killings of Malcolm Brown, 53, and Donna R. Conneely, 59, a Yonkers couple whose remains were discovered scattered across Babylon and Bethpage earlier this year.
The victims’ remains were first uncovered on February 29 and March 5, strewn across various locations including a park in Babylon, Bethpage State Park, and a wooded area in West Babylon. The discovery sparked a harrowing investigation that has now led to murder charges against Mackey and Nieves.
According to Suffolk prosecutors, between February 27 and March 4, the defendants allegedly removed “sharp instruments, multiple body parts, and other related items” from their shared residence on Railroad Avenue in an attempt to conceal the crime of second-degree murder.
During the defendants’ initial arraignments, Suffolk prosecutor Frank Schroeder revealed that authorities had amassed significant evidence linking Mackey and Nieves to the heinous crime. This evidence reportedly includes human remains, meat cleavers, butcher knives, substantial amounts of blood, and video surveillance footage.
Mackey and Nieves are slated to be arraigned on Monday in Suffolk County criminal court in Riverhead, facing second-degree murder charges that underscore the gravity of the alleged offenses.
The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the disturbing nature of the crime and raising questions about the motive behind such a violent act.
