In a poignant reflection on family values and a commitment to public service, Andrew J. O’Rourke steps into his role as Transportation Assistant at the Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT).

The legacy of his late grandfather, former County Executive Andrew P. O’Rourke, casts a guiding influence on Andrew as he embarks on this new chapter of his career.

O’Rourke, a product of a family deeply rooted in public service, expressed gratitude for the lessons imparted by his grandfather: “Loyalty, integrity, and humor are values instilled in me by my grandfather during our brief 18 years together. It’s an honor to continue his legacy in the service of Westchester County.”

The late Andrew P. O’Rourke, remembered for his unwavering commitment to Westchester and his ability to collaborate across party lines, served as County Executive from 1982 to 1997.

Andrew J. O’Rourke now joins the Westchester County Government under the leadership of County Executive George Latimer, who acknowledges the significance of the O’Rourke family’s dedication to public service.

County Executive Latimer expresses enthusiasm about Andrew J. O’Rourke’s inclusion in the team, stating, “He continues a family legacy of public service, and I look forward to working with him as we strive to serve the people of Westchester County.”

Coming from a diverse background in law, sales, commerce, and the automotive industry, O’Rourke is well-equipped to contribute to the improvement of transportation services in Westchester County.

As a native of Yonkers, he brings a local perspective and aims to leverage his skills for the benefit of the community.
