3 Palestinian students shot in US for “wearing Keffiyeh”
In a shocking incident last night, three Palestinian students, Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ali, and Kenan Abdulhamid, studying at prestigious institutions including Brown University, were reportedly shot while on their way to a family dinner.
The motive? Wearing the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh.
Palestinian Ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, brought attention to the incident through an Instagram post.
Expressing deep concern, Zomlot stated, “Three young Palestinian men… were shot last night on their way to a family dinner in Burlington, USA. Their crime? Wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh. They are critically injured.”
This disturbing event follows another hate crime against Palestinians just six weeks ago. A 6-year-old Palestinian child was brutally stabbed 26 times in Illinois, highlighting a concerning pattern of targeted violence.
Zomlot emphasised the urgent need for protection, stating, “The hate crimes against Palestinians must stop. Palestinians everywhere need protection.”
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, raising questions about the safety and security of the Palestinian community in the United States.
