AAWIC announces date for Education Film Symposium
African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC) has announced a date for the upcoming AAWIC Educational Film Symposium.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Terra Renee, President of African American Women in Cinema, on Wednesday August 19, 2023.
According to the statement, the event, taking place on Saturday 19, 2023, will be held at Avenue Church located at 1745 1st Ave., New York, NY 10128.
The AAWIC Symposium is designed to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge to aspiring film producers and content creators, focusing on three essential aspects: preparing for film festival submissions, effectively distributing films using streaming app platforms and marketing.
“We understand the unique challenges and opportunities faced by people of color in the film industry, and our symposium is tailored to address those specific needs.
“We bring together a network of industry professionals, experienced filmmakers, and experts who share their expertise and guide participants through the intricate processes of film production, festival submission, and distribution,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, scholarships are also available for aspiring filmmakers/content creators between the ages of 18-25yrs. to attend.
