A Yemeni American Community (YAC) elder has been shot dead in the New York City.

According to Yahey Obeid who disclosed this via his Facebook page on Saturday, the elder was shot dead while walking on the road.

“He was killed by a stray bullet while taking his routine walk. Our condolences to the family,” he said.

He also reported that the shooter was arrested near 94th street in Queens.

Expressing his condolences, Richard Greco, wrote, “With deep sorrow to the family and our friends of the Yemen community especially those in the Little Yemen Community of Morris Park Bronx.”

Mohamed Ahmed Al-Ward, wrote in his condolences, “May Allah bless his soul and rest himself in heaven…Our sincere condolences to his family and friends…”

Yemeni Americans are Americans of Yemeni ancestry. According to an estimate in 2010, more than 100,000 Yemenis live in the United States.
