OIC welcomes Somali peaceful election, congratulates president-elect
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has congratulated the Somali president-elect.
In its congratulatory message on Monday May 15, 2022, OIC "welcomed the confidence placed by the two Chambers of the Somali Parliament, the People's Assembly and the Senate, in His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was elected as president of the Federal Republic of Somalia."
The OIC Secretary-General, His Excellency Hissein Brahim Taha, extended his sincere congratulations to the president-elect, wishing him success in his mandate to achieve the aspirations of the Somali people.
The Secretary-General also offered his warmest congratulations to the Somali people on the success of this election.
He reiterated the OIC support to the Federal Republic of Somalia at this crucial stage and in its quest to promote security, stability and development.
