First Annual 183rd Street Community Day
By K Born Rivers,
August 17th 2019 was a day that will go down in history whenever 183rd Street and Creston Avenue is mentioned.
It was a day full of food, music, fun, meeting and greeting of new and old Friends. It was what would be considered a blast from the pass, a showdown, a Block Party. Headlined as a Community Event but the feeling was more like a Family Reunion!
In a community that's been plagued for decades with violence, drugs and gangs, it was a day that was well needed as well as deserved to help bring peace and unity back in the community.
We started at 9:00 am and by 3:00 pm it was well over 100 People In attendance. Got to see and speak to friends that I went to school with back in the late 1970's. I got a chance to network, sing, dance, and enjoy a full day of peace. UNITY should have been the word for the day!
I Am My Community, Inc. is not only the name of my organization but it’s also a reality that I live daily because of I Am My Community. I'd like to send a big thank you plus prayers and blessings to all that attended and participated and look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s event. 183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day183rd Community Day.
