LEGALIZATION RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA WILL NOT BE GOOD FOR NEW YORK

OPINION:

While NY State Legislatures plan to legalize recreational marijuana, they fail to understand an important factor, its still illegal by Federal Law. While many arrest in the past proved racial profiling with arrest and incarcerated inmates in NYC and NYS jails, legalizing will create in NYC a even more promising dilemma the arrest and possible incarceration of NYC residents under federal guidelines.

Just last month a federal mandate was made to lower low level nonviolent crimes and new sentencing guidelines to be imposed only on federal cases. Ask yourself why? While legalizing the substance is being viewed by NY law makers as a revnue opportunity its not being undertaken of Black Market sales which has a far greater position to incarcerated more African Americans and Latinos.

The average price for an ounce of Marijuana in legalize states is $300 while in the streets of NYC its about from $80 to $150. Failing to pay taxes on will be the harsh reality that more arrest will come.

Legalizing it will not stop federal agencies from arresting untaxed sales neither will it also involve NYC either. For perfect example look how many arrest have been made for untaxed cigarettes. Wanting to legalize Marijuana for the MTA is a joke but the far larger cries will come from our Black and Brown communities with stiff penalties of federal guidelines that will haunt us in years to come.
