Trump Signals Possible Deal With Cuba, Says Development May Come Soon

United States President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States may soon reach a deal with Cuba or take other actions, suggesting that developments in the long-strained relationship between the two countries could happen quickly.
Speaking on the issue, Trump described Cuba as a struggling nation but said discussions are ongoing and a resolution may be near.
“Cuba is a failed nation. Cuba also wants to make a deal, and I think we will pretty soon. Either make a deal or do whatever we have to do,” he said.
Trump also referenced Cuban-Americans who supported him politically, noting the historical grievances many of them hold against the Cuban government.
“We have a lot of great people that happen to vote for Trump, not that that matters, but we have a lot of great people from Cuba that were violently and viciously thrown out of the country, and worse. Their families were killed,” he stated.
The president added that while talks with Cuba are ongoing, Washington’s immediate focus remains on its dealings with Iran.
“And so we’re talking to Cuba, but we’re going to do Iran before Cuba. They’ve been waiting 50 years for what’s happening with Cuba. So I think something will happen with Cuba pretty quickly,” Trump added.
Relations between the United States and Cuba have remained tense for decades, shaped by political disagreements, economic sanctions, and the legacy of the Cold War. Trump’s remarks suggest that a new diplomatic development could be on the horizon.
