Harris, Walz donate $25m to empower down-ballot Democrats
Vice President Kamala Harris, alongside Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has announced a staggering $25 million donation to support down-ballot Democrats, marking the largest transfer ever witnessed in a presidential election cycle.
This monumental decision is set to reverberate across the political landscape, sending ripples through the ranks of MAGA Republicans and energizing Democratic campaigns nationwide.
The announcement underscores a strategic effort to fortify Democratic positions in various levels of government, a move integral to the party’s broader vision for America. “If we want a future where every American’s rights are protected, not taken away; where the middle class is strengthened, not hollowed out; and a country where our democracy is preserved, not ripped apart, every race this November matters,” stated Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon. She emphasized the Vice President’s commitment to galvanizing national support for Democratic candidates at all levels, adding, “The Vice President believes that this race is about mobilizing the entire country, in races at every level, to fight for our freedoms and our economic opportunity.”
The funds are meticulously allocated to ensure maximum impact: $10 million each to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, $2.5 million to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to secure state legislative control, and $1 million each to the Democratic Attorneys General Association and the Democratic Governors’ Association. This allocation reflects a comprehensive approach to reinforcing Democratic influence across the political spectrum.
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison articulated the strategic importance of this initiative, remarking, “Like President Joe Biden before, when Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz enter the Oval Office, they’ll rely on strong partners from the Hill to state legislatures to move America forward.” He further highlighted the necessity of achieving victories across all governmental levels, asserting, “We must win at all levels of government, up and down the ballot, to safeguard our freedoms and continue our economic progress — be it in red, blue, or purple America.”
