First Blessing
It is commonly held that a priest can offer a "first blessing" for the entire first year as a new priest. Pope Paul VI granted newly ordained priests the privilege of giving the Papal Blessing with plenary indulgence, but a person can only receive it one time from each newly ordained priest. In addition, the Enchiridion of Indulgences attaches a plenary indulgence to.the celebration or attendance at his first public Mass. So, come to St. Helena in the Bronx on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5:30PM to attend the First Public Mass of Piarist Fr. Vinod Angadathu George, Sch.P. here at the church and to receive his priestly blessing. A reception will follow in the gym. Fr. Vinod was born in Kerala, India, and he graduated from St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, and he lived at St. Helena as a seminarian during his time of study there.
