Israel Claims Elimination of Top Iranian Security Figures

Israel has announced the assassination of two high-ranking Iranian officials, intensifying already fragile tensions in the Middle East.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, disclosed on Tuesday that Iran’s top security chief, Ali Larijani, had been killed. Larijani, who served as Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council until his reported death, was considered a key figure in the country’s security architecture.
In a related development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the killing of Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij paramilitary unit, which operates under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Announcing the development, the IDF stated:
> “Yesterday, the IDF targeted and eliminated Gholamreza Soleimani, who operated as commander of the Basij unit for the past six years. Under Soleimani, the Basij unit led the main repression operations in Iran, employing severe violence, widespread arrests, and the use of force against civilian demonstrators.”
As of the time of reporting, the Iranian government has not officially confirmed the deaths of the two officials.
The announcement comes amid heightened hostilities following the controversial Operation Epic Fury, reportedly launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel, which allegedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, alongside dozens of other senior officials.
The situation continues to draw global attention, with analysts warning of potential escalation in the region.
