In a bold and direct statement, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a large-scale military assault against Houthi rebels in Yemen, declaring an end to what he called their “unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism” against U.S. and allied forces.

Trump, who recently returned to the political spotlight, took to social media to make the announcement, stating:

“Today, I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen.”

The former president did not mince words in his criticism of his successor, Joe Biden, accusing him of a “pathetically weak” response to Houthi aggression. Trump blamed this perceived inaction for emboldening the Iran-backed militia, which has continued to attack U.S. warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Suez Canal.

“It has been over a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial ship safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden,” Trump said. “The last American warship to go through the Red Sea, four months ago, was attacked by the Houthis over a dozen times.”

The military strikes, which began earlier today, are focused on neutralizing Houthi strongholds, leadership, and missile infrastructure. Trump emphasized the importance of restoring global trade routes, saying the Houthis had “choked off shipping in one of the most important waterways of the world, grinding vast swaths of global commerce to a halt.”

He further warned that “no terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the waterways of the world.”

Beyond targeting the Houthis, Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, the primary backer of the Yemeni militia: “To Iran: Support for the Houthi terrorists must end IMMEDIATELY! Do NOT threaten the American People, their President, who has received one of the largest mandates in Presidential History, or Worldwide shipping lanes.”

“If you do, BEWARE, because America will hold you fully accountable, and we won’t be nice about it!”

The move is expected to stir significant international debate, as the Red Sea remains a critical artery for global commerce. The world will now watch closely as the U.S. executes its military strategy in a volatile region, and how both allies and adversaries respond to Trump’s decisive action.

With tensions at a boiling point, one thing is clear: Trump’s approach marks a dramatic shift in U.S. policy toward the Houthis, signaling a willingness to escalate conflict in pursuit of maritime security.
