Bronx road rage turns deadly, gang member arrested for brutal stabbing of local father
The family of Ronald Gomez-Mesa, a 29-year-old Bronx father tragically murdered in a road rage incident, is demanding justice after the alleged killer, Clement Boateng, was apprehended by the NYPD on Thursday.
Clement Boateng, 36, was arrested around 10 a.m. by the NYPD’s Warrants Squad in connection with the July 2 murder of Ronald Gomez-Mesa. Boateng, who resides just down the block from where the fatal stabbing occurred, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The arrest has brought a sense of relief to Gomez-Mesa’s grieving family, but it has also stoked their desire for justice. Speaking exclusively to The Post, Ronaysi Gomez, the victim’s 25-year-old sister, expressed the family’s anguish and their plea for stringent legal action.
“We’re relieved they found the killer but we want justice,” Ronaysi said. “We don’t want him out of prison. He can’t be let out. A killer can’t be out on the street or he could kill again.”
The deadly encounter unfolded on July 2 in a violent escalation of road rage. Boateng, who has known affiliations with the River Park Towers gang, allegedly stabbed Gomez-Mesa near their Bronx neighborhood. The confrontation, which began as a dispute on the road, ended in a tragic loss of life, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Boateng’s criminal history is extensive, with four prior arrests. His most recent arrest dates back to September 22, 2016, on charges including criminal possession of a weapon. This background has only intensified the community’s outcry for his continued incarceration.
The Gomez-Mesa family, along with concerned residents, is now focused on ensuring that Boateng remains behind bars. Their fear is that if he is released, he could pose a continued threat to the community.
“This is not just about our family; it’s about everyone’s safety,” Ronaysi Gomez emphasized. “We cannot have people like him roaming freely. It’s a danger to us all.”
The arrest has reverberated throughout the Bronx, prompting calls for increased measures to tackle gang violence and road rage incidents. Local leaders and community activists are urging law enforcement to take stringent actions to prevent such tragedies in the future.
As Boateng awaits trial, the Bronx community stands united in its call for justice for Ronald Gomez-Mesa. The case underscores the urgent need for effective measures to combat gang violence and ensure the safety of all residents.
The Gomez-Mesa family’s heart-wrenching plea serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of violent crime and the critical importance of justice in healing a grieving community.
