NYC: Dr. Allen, Dr. Schwartz honored for innovative approaches to patient care
NYC Health + Hospitals announced today that two of its top executives, Dr. Machelle Allen and Dr. Talya Schwartz, have been named among Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” of 2024.
The recognition honors their innovative approaches to patient care and health system leadership, which have improved the lives of thousands of New Yorkers.
Dr. Allen, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, has led initiatives such as tele-intensive care units, robotic surgery expansion, and artificial intelligence-powered electroencephalogram interpretations. She also established the Office of Clinical Operations, which detects emerging infections through wastewater surveillance.
Dr. Schwartz, President and CEO of MetroPlusHealth, has increased enrollment to 700,000 members and integrated behavioral health services with physical care. She has also expanded virtual visits and addressed social determinants of health, such as supportive housing and food insecurity.
Both leaders have demonstrated a commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare for all New Yorkers, particularly vulnerable communities.
