Roommate dispute turns deadly, Bronx man charged with second-degree murder
A 29-year-old Bronx man, Brandon Austin, was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with second-degree murder following a fatal shooting involving his roommate.
Police responded to a call at 5:57 p.m. on Friday at 1825 Topping Avenue, near East 176th Street in the Mount Hope section. Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Marcus Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Henderson was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Both Austin and Henderson listed the Topping Avenue address as their residence, though the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic altercation.
Austin is currently in custody as the investigation continues. Neighbors expressed shock and sadness over the incident, describing the area as typically peaceful.
