CHAM’s unforgettable ‘Dunkin’ Joy’ prom delights young patients
The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation joined forces to create an enchanting prom experience for young patients facing health challenges.
On Friday, April 26, the hospital transformed into the vibrant venue for the “Dunkin’ Joy and the Donut Factory” Prom, offering teens a magical night filled with joy, celebration, and unforgettable moments.
The event, made possible by a generous grant from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, marked CHAM’s first prom since 2019.
With the creative direction of renowned New York event planner Sandi Zager, the evening surpassed all expectations, featuring unique decor, breakdancers, and delightful surprises tailored to the young attendees.
The Dunkin’ Prom Program, initiated in 2019, recognizes the importance of social engagement for teens battling health issues.
By funding proms at hospitals, the Foundation aims to provide these youths with opportunities to cherish traditional rites of passage in a supportive and safe environment.
Over 12 to 21-year-old CHAM patients with various health conditions, along with their plus ones, graced the event, meticulously coordinated by CHAM’s Child Life Department.
Attendees were treated to professional hair and makeup services at an onsite glam salon, enhancing their prom experience.
Apart from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the event received support from a host of other organizations, including Flashes of Hope, Free Bird Organization, Operation Prom – The Dress Donation, Men’s Warehouse, Musicians on Call, Kiwanis, JCC, and Glam4Good.
As Sandi Zager aptly put it, “Tonight was about celebrating life and creating memories that will last a lifetime.”
