Parkchester Times March 28, 2024 0 484A 57-year-old woman became the victim of an unprovoked assault while walking down a sidewalk, leaving her with severe injuries and sparking concerns about the handling of the perpetrator’s history.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly walking along a sidewalk when she was suddenly struck in the face by a man, identified as 33-year-old Franz Jeudy. Witnesses described the attack as random, with no apparent motive behind the violence.
The assault inflicted significant damage on the victim, resulting in multiple fractures to her face, including her lower lip, and the loss of three teeth. Medical professionals have indicated that she may require surgery to address the extent of her injuries.

Additionally, her mouth has been wired shut, highlighting the severity of the attack.
Franz Jeudy was swiftly apprehended following the assault and has since been charged with misdemeanor assault. However, due to the nature of the charge, he is not eligible for bail, raising concerns among the community about the severity of consequences for such a violent act.
Furthermore, it has come to light that Jeudy has a history of similar offenses, having been arrested seven times previously for assault. This revelation has prompted questions about the adequacy of the justice system in addressing repeat offenders and protecting potential future victims.
In New York, the assault, classified as a misdemeanor, falls short of the threshold deemed “serious” enough to necessitate the perpetrator posting bail as a guarantee of appearing in court. Consequently, there is a possibility that the District Attorney may opt to drop the charges, contingent upon Jeudy’s participation in a rehabilitation program.
The victim’s niece has expressed outrage at the perceived leniency of the legal system towards repeat offenders like Jeudy, emphasizing the need for stricter measures to ensure public safety.
This incident has ignited discussions about the treatment of assault cases and the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs in deterring repeat offenses. It serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in balancing justice and rehabilitation in cases of violent crime.
