NYS Attorney General, Mayor Adams file lawsuit against gun distributors
The New York State Attorney General, Letitia James, and Mayor Eric Adams have filed a lawsuit against 10 national gun distributors.
James disclosed this via her Facebook page on Wednesday June 29, 2022.
According to James, tens of thousands of ghost gun parts that were used to create untraceable ghost guns were sold by the distributors.
“Mayor Eric Adams and I are delivering on our promise to hold these companies accountable and protect New Yorkers,” James said.
She added, “These 10 companies have flooded our streets with untraceable weapons. They have sold ghost gun pieces or kits to New Yorkers without a background check, without any federally required record of sale, and to people who otherwise could not legally purchase a firearm.
“We are taking this major action today using New York’s Public Nuisance law for the first time.”
She stated that the guns have been linked to shootings and even murders in New York City. “We’re cracking down on the companies that are fueling this destruction.”
“My office is seeking to ban these companies from selling or shipping gun parts in New York and make them pay for the harm they’ve caused.
“We will continue to do everything we can to combat the gun violence crisis and get illegal guns off our streets and out of our communities,” she concluded.
