NYC TEMPORARY EMERGENCY HOUSING CLUSTER OF DRUG DEALING WITHOUT ACCOUNTABILITY
Opinion Section:
NYC Temporary Emergency Housing is useless and our New York City agencies not overseeing contracts with Landlords and Homeless providers to provide safe and social services.
381 East 198 Street Bronx, NY 10458 is a Veterans Rooming building that houses 4 floors of homeless Veterans. The irony of this is that the landlord Arron Solemann leased out the property to Samaritan Village which is responsible for providing the housing and social services. To date no accommodating efforts have been made but their building manager is renting rooms out for illicit drug dealing and prostitution.
I have personally witnessed how scores of non residents go in and out of this building. Security seldom provides assistance when an emergency occurs in lieu of being assaulted. It's mayhem in this building. Complaints have been made to NYPD 52 pct and they are not allowed to enter the building unless reports are made or calls to 911 made and responded to investigate the matter. This problem occurs in many temporary housing rooms that are contracted out by NYC for social services and assistance and nothing is done to rectify the matter of overseeing the developments when a building is leased out without community notification.
Our NYC agencies must address this issue urgently or it will just be another failing system that ignores a systemic problems for years of neglect.
UNITY IS THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR OUR VOICES TO BE HEARD
