Parkchester Times reporter and fact-checker, Marufat Ibrahim, has won the New York State Center for Community Media election reporting fellowship.

CCM disclosed this while revealing the list of the 30 beneficiaries for this year's election reporting fellowship https://www.journalism.cuny.edu/2022/03/ccm-announces-2022-ny-state-elections-reporting-fellows/ on  Thursday May 5, 2022.

"CCM is pleased to announce the 30 recipients of the 2022 New York State Elections Reporting Fellowship. Serving communities all over New York State, from Brooklyn to Westchester County and Queens to the Shawangunk Mountain Ranges," the statement reads.

According to the statement, these fellows will each produce four in-depth articles or explainers on the 2022 federal midterm and statewide local elections.

"The fellowships began March 22, and will continue through Election Day on November 8, 2022.

"They serve Black, Latinx, Asian and immigrant communities, hailing from Haiti, Korea, China, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Russia. Their audiences are Jewish and Muslim, Caribbean and African, and more," it adds.

Also reacting to the good news, Chairman and Publisher of Muslim Media Corporation, Sheikh Musa Drammeh,  stated, "We're excite to hear that one of our staff got enlisted among the winners of this year's election reporting fellowship in New York."

He added, "This is a sign that we're really doing well as a media company in New York State. Last year we had two winners of this same fellowship program and again this year we won. This is how we'll keep winning because we're authentic and professional in our media operations."

"On behalf of the management of Muslim Media Corporation, the publisher of Parkchester Times, Muslim Parrot and New York Parrot news papers, I congratulate Marufat Ibrahim on this career accomplishment," Drammeh said

Building on the incredible impact of the 2021 City Elections Reporting Fellows, who together produced 120 articles in nine different languages during the 2021 primary elections, this fellowship will deepen local election coverage and civic engagement among immigrants and people of color across New York State during a critical election year.

This fellowship is made possible with generous support from The Charles H. Revson Foundation.
