Bronx, New York (4/8/19)—Co-op City inaugurated its first “Community Seder” yesterday in the presence of jubilant guests from throughout the Big Apple, representing folks with different religions and ethnicities.

Anti-Defamation League (ADL), in collaboration with Bronx Clergy Tack Force, Islamic Cultural Center of North America, Bronx District Attorney, Office of Councilman Andy King, Church of God’s Children, Mujumder Foundation, Riverbay Corp, and Peace December, sponsored this Community Seder in Co-op City with over supplied food stuff, volunteers and a friendly atmosphere.

Among the special guests are United Nations ambassadors from Mexico and Haiti, as well as Hon. Dacel Clark, Bronx DA, and Councilman Andy King.

Michelle Lejeune, a representative from Co-op City Management stated her excitement for what she saw and expressed her commitment to make it a more successful annual event in the future. “It’s good for Co-op City,” she added.

Co-op City which used to be home to mostly Jewish families in its early years, is indeed a rightful venue for celebrating an Interfaith Seder considering the current climate of increasing anti-Semitism.

The Seder concluded with prayers and neighborly affirmation readings from many world languages.  Some of the guests at the Community Seder.
