Citibank Treats Security Guards with Cruelty

Op-Ed

Citi Bank Headquarters at 388 Greenwich Street, New York, N.Y has sought to the level of having contract security officers standing unprotected outside without shelter to the cold weather no matter if it’s  snowing, raining, or below-freezing temperatures. If you chain a dog to the gate in freezing weather at Citi Bank Headquarters this is called animal cruelty, animals are protected in the United States by the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act.

We are asking for the same respect when it comes to keeping security officers in the same sense as chained to their post in unsanitary weather conditions. On Monday, January 13th, 2020 it has been authorized by CSI  ( Citi Bank Security ) to dismantle the only security booth in the yard which is being reconstructed into a sitting park for Citi workers. They are putting in the ground and instead of moving the booth so that the three-shift post ( 6am-2pm, 2pm -11p, 11pm -6am security officers can keep their first line of defense against the weather now have nowhere to go for cover and if they leave out the yard that will be abandoning your post.

Citi Bank has no regard to the freezing cold wind coming off the river on west end street. I know other employees around the city of New York may be facing the same heartless act because management does not have to stand outside under these heartless cruelty conditions.

The Hip Hop Movement is respectfully requesting if the City Council can take up this heartless act and pass a bill that requires a company when hiring private contractors to do any and all security patrols / Standing post outside for their company a booth must be requested for the officers to seek cover. A security booth is a security officer’s first line of defense not only against the weather but any prominent danger.
