Breaking: AOC beats Caruso-Cabrera, others in NY District 14 primary elections
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The incumbent Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has defeated her major contenders Michelle Caruso-Cabrera and Badrun Khan in the democratic primary elections for the New York Congressional Dictrict 14th held on June 23, sustaining the victory she made two years ago as the youngest legislator in the US congress, Parkchester Times predicts, based on the digitally tabulated results online, which gave AOC over 70% of the total votes.

“To win with that kind of mandate is transformative, and it tells us that our policy positions are not an accident. It's exactly what our community has been waiting for, and it’s the kind of leadership that our State and our country has been waiting for,” Ocasio-Cortez said, while reacting to the victory.

As an outspoken political activist who believes in advocates for systemic change, the 30-year old congresswoman used the Parkchester Time face-to-face debate held few days to election to clear misconceptions about her and lash her main challenger, accusing Michelle Caruso-Cabrera of working secretly for Republican Party as she was once a registered Republican, and got her huge fundings majorly from Republicans in the Wall Street.

Caruso-Cabrera, on the other hand, has technically accepted defeat in her recent press release, thanking her supporter and pointing out her discoveries and expereiences during the campaign.

"I am extremely grateful to those who have supported our campaign in ways both big and small. Since Day 1 of our campaign before COVID, we were out in the streets meeting with small businesses. After COVID arrived, I was on the phone with voters and community leaders until practically midnight every day!

"What did we learn? Our hospitals needed more funding. Our vulnerable neighbors needed more testing. Our community needs economic stability that can only come from more jobs and better jobs," Caruso-Cabrera said.

She therefore called for the unity of democrats and encouraged her supporters and campaign team to start working toward making sure that Joe Biden emerges victorious in the November 2020 presidential election.

"Together, we must continue the charge forward toward November. We must rally and support the standard bearer of our Democratic party, Joe Biden. Only through unity will we lead the way forward as Democrats and restore integrity to the democratic process, she concluded.

New York Congressional dictrict 14, which covers Bronx and Queens, is a multi-racial district filled with a blend of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans and people of many other racial and ethnic identities.
